Don't think they have changed the axle distance from 4 to 5 speed. Maybe measure the spring length from fixed point. I can measure mine tomorrow.

Theo
You know what couldve happened. You put the rear springs back in front to back Cos they have a clear long and short side from the axle mount
Might be worth double checking

I will check it again Keith but it is unlikely, as it is a known issue with LX models in Aus. I will probably relocate that bracket and nut to the bottom but that still leaves the other one on the 3rd member. BFH might be the only tool

Why is it a problem with the LX only? All Axle's and their position should be the same on all models from say '80 onwards. I had my tank in from the beginning, done the Legend Trip loaded, checked again today, not one scratch on the tank.

Never had a problem like this. Clearance same as in OD's pics. plenty of clearance on mine, and have done a fair amount of axle twisting. what I have not had yet is the entire axle moving up to the bump stops at the same time. I will also check when I am back in SA...

What about them Adolf ? I think it only effects late model 40's with earlier model tanks, and only if heavily loaded and when the susp bottoms out on both sides ie the axle travels backwards and upwards. This weekend she didn't touch once even though at 1 obsticle I hit the front and rear bump stops at speed - although she was not loaded at all.

Does not look right to me. Play almost finished! Especially on front. Wonder if the Hellcreek's are not longer, hence your problem with the tank. Did you remove a spring?
Your rear wheel seems to be further back then on mine!

That is an action pic taken while we are racing up a rather steep dune ( 2nd last obsticle for the day where few vehicles made it up at the first go ) so don't expect the shackle angle to be at a stationary 45 deg, besides the front shackle angle will have no effect on the rear tank etc. I did not remove any springs and suspect the Hell Creeks are just nice and flexy compared to most others.I have noticed some body roll in fast corners so maybe my shockies have lost some dampening also

That is an action pic taken while we are racing up a rather steep dune .... I can see that, but it is already on a straight! And your wheels are still far away from the wheelarches, so what I mean is shackle angle compared to wheels in arches! Anyway, hope you find your problem! Glad I don't have it! Btw, your bushes should be with JB!
