Grahame by all accounts it runs quite well, and is complete - if quite rusty. Its just not road legal (Aussie plates).

Adolf, it was mentioned on LCCSA but was sold on Gumtree. Turns out the PO is the actual  brother of my work partner so, at R25k, I was happy to buy it unseen and wait.

I think my current plan is to get it PE or thereabouts and then use a transport company to get it to Springs.

I wont make a call on what sort of rebuild this will be until I have actually seen the vehicle but the initial plan was to make this into a comfortable family cruiser and was going to be the troopy top half on a GX chassis with a 4.5 carb engine and a 5 speed box.

I've got a 47 bakkie with the carb engine and it works a treat so this feels like the right move.

My feeling is that if it's running and has some brakes, then drive it. I went to Mozambique, this year and collected my 43 that had not been driven for 3 years. 1st thing, the front brakes were seized. With the help of JT, we stripped the front brakes, lubed then up a bit, did some bleeding and Whaalah, we drove to cape town. If you a worried get a mate to drive with you in anoyther vehicle as a back-up thats what I would do.
